Dear Friends and Donors,
For many of us a “childhood summer” means a lifetime of memories. Sleeping in cabins and eating breakfast with your friends. Receiving a high-five from your leader after completing the high-ropes course. Realizing what it means to truly respect others. And submerging yourself in fresh air!
However, summer can be a challenging time for hard working families right in your community. Between paying bills and being home while school is out, it is sometimes difficult to afford these life-giving experiences for your children.
Can we count on your support for summers to come? Any amount you can give is needed. Your donations change lives. They get responses like:
“Everyone here is my friend.” and “I want to live at Camp Pringle, Mom!”
In 2014, 42 children and youth accessed our bursary fund—a value of $14,000. These campers would otherwise go without camp. We anticipate the same amount required in 2015.
Bursaries alone don’t keep camp running. Laura Butler Lodge requires upgrades for wheelchair accessibility. The waterfront dock needs improvements. And programming equipment needs purchasing. Despite a budget-balancing lifeline from BC Conference, Camp Pringle will require $12,500 for expenditures in late 2014 and early 2015.
Please consider donating any amount to our capital, operations or bursary funds. For example: $20 buys 500 yards of yarn to make Warm Fuzzies crafts; $100 buys 5 cedar planks for the new dock; $120 buys a paddle board paddle; $500 provides a bursary to attend camp for a week; and $1,000 affords a week of construction labour.
On behalf of the board, staff and every child, youth and family whose life is transformed by their time at Camp Pringle, we thank you.
