Paid Positions

Summer staff for 2017 are required to be on-site from Sunday evening to Friday evening. All positions include room and board. Staff must attend a paid staff training week July 3-7th. Staff must provide a clear criminal record check and have a valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certificate before starting the position. Interviews for positions will start in December 2016 and positions will be open until filled. Volunteer Positions

Volunteer positions require a time commitment from Sunday evening to Friday evening. All volunteers will have at least two references checked and will have to provide a clear criminal record check. We ask volunteers to apply early (March if possible) to leave enough time for criminal record checks to be completed as these can take many weeks. All volunteers need to complete full applications to ensure we have all of your information and so that you can participate in all camp activities, if you so choose.

Responsible for a child who is not old enough for camp (under 6)? Volunteers can bring a pre-camp aged child for free . RENTAL GROUPS LIFEGUARD – School Program & Summer Weekends (2 Positions Available)

Term: May 1 - September 30th, 2017 Compensation: ~$13.50/hr Description:NLS Waterfront Rental Staff require excellent instruction skill that will lead to rental groups understanding the waterfront rules and safety while having a satisfying and fun experience when canoeing, kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding and swimming. As a rental group lifeguard you will be responsible for the setup and takedown of any/all waterfront equipment. Waterfront Staff will be provided on site accommodation and all meals if possible. Must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays and arrange their own transportation to and from Camp Pringle. *NEW - COUNSELLOR-IN-TRAINING (CIT) – Summer Camp
(6 Positions Available)

Term: July 3 to Aug 25
(MANDATORY PAID STAFF TRAINING: July 3-7th)

Compensation: ~Volunteer position - Room and board provided and reference letter.

Description:Counsellor-in-Training (CIT) – The defining role at camp. Counsellors are the people who supervise the campers day and night and really get to know each camper as the true and great individuals they are. Counsellors assist or lead all activities at camp from archery to campfires and skits. Leaders work Sunday evening to Friday evening with onsite accommodation and all meals provided. Counsellors will sleep in cabins with campers every night. Additional accommodation will be provided in the Laura Butler lodge in a shared accommodation with access to the staff/CIT lounge, now in the Ruth Kershawroom. Ideal candidates are outgoing, energetic and are experienced working with children ages 6-14. Successful candidates may be offered extra employment opportunities working as program staff for school rental groups in May and June.

Camp Parent or Grandparent - Summer Camp

Term: Sunday evening to Friday evening of your choice of week during the summer.

Compensation: The knowledge that you have helped enrich the life of one or more young people and a week at the lake with someone else cooking for you!.

Description:This position has two main responsibilities. To help ensure the dining hall is prepared for meals and snacks; and to be a parent to any child who needs time away from the group dynamic. The first responsibility includes ensuring there is water at every table, chairs are down, cups are out and that the kitchen has everything they need for service. You may be asked to help serve food. You are also responsible for helping ensure the cabin gopher group stays after the meal to sweep and clean up the dining hall. You will also decide if the floor needs a spot, or a full mopping and ensure this is done. This role also looks after ensuring there is coffee prepared and the coffee and juice areas are kept tidy. The second responsibility might involve supervising a cabin while a leader goes to get changed, or taking a camper for a walk to help the group dynamics. Camp has a strategy for helping homesick campers cope and we ask that volunteers learn this strategy.

Skills Needed: Empathy and compassion, a good work ethic and the ability to look for ways to be helpful.
